Ravioli with Balsamic Brown Butter

18 to 20 ounces store-bought ravioli (cheese, mushroom, or squash)
6 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/3 cup toasted, chopped walnuts (350 degrees for about 8 minutes)
1/4 cup grated Parmesan
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat. Add the ravioli and cook 4 to 5 minutes, until tender but still firm to the bite, stirring occasionally. Drain ravioli onto a large serving platter.
Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan cook the butter over medium heat, stirring occasionally. When the foam subsides, and the butter begins to turn a golden brown, about 3 minutes, turn off the heat. Let cool for about 1 minute. Stir in the balsamic vinegar (careful, this will start to bubble), salt, and pepper.

Transfer the ravioli to the pan saucepan with the balsamic brown butter. Sprinkle walnuts and Parmesan over the top. Serve immediately.

I got this recipe from the Food Network (Giada). The brown butter and balsamic vinegar combined for a great flavor!

  1. I've made a dish similar to this. It is sooo good. Do you take all your photos? Very artistic and lovely presentation. I'm impressed! I love to cook, but I am not the best at presentation...

  2. Jacqui: I wish I could take all the credit, but my designer husband is my food stylist and photographer. I can make it taste good, he makes it look good (I hope). I must admit though, we didn't get a picture of the ravioli before we ate it, so I used the "food network" picture. Seth has taken the rest.

  3. Seriously, he's a darn good photographer. That grapefruit pound cake pic is beautiful. What is he, a graphic designer or artist or something...? ;) Really, they are publish-worthy. And I can't wait to make that recipe. Yummm...
